Chloe Binding

Chloe Binding is an experienced investigations lawyer, with a focus on international bribery and corruption, workplace misconduct, risk and reputation management and compliance. Drawing on over a decade of disputes and advisory experience, she represents corporate and individual clients across a range of serious and complex investigations and prosecutions brought by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), along with their international counterparts.

Ms. Binding has acted in some of the most high-profile and substantial investigations in recent years. She formed part of the multi-award winning team advising Airbus SE in respect of the corruption investigation leading to the largest UK DPA financial settlement to date, coordinated with the French Parquet National Financier (PNF), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and U.S. Department of State (DOS). Whilst at the independent Bar, where Ms. Binding spent nine years prior to entering private practice, she acted as junior counsel to the Inquests in the long-running investigation and subsequent inquests relating to the 96 deaths resulting from the Hillsborough Stadium Disaster in April 1989.

Ms. Binding has conducted numerous internal investigations for clients involving highly sensitive matters, including advising on reporting to regulators and authorities. She has particular experience in the field of workplace misconduct, having been regularly ranked in Legal 500 as a leading junior barrister in professional regulation, noted as being an "excellent and natural advocate". Ms. Binding’s professional regulatory practice has encompassed fraud, sexual misconduct, physical abuse and evidentially complex lack of competence amongst others. This makes her particularly well placed to act in relation to financial and non-financial employee misconduct investigations.

She also acts for financial institutions and asset managers in relation to allegations of manipulation and abuse in the financial markets. Ms. Binding recently completed a secondment to a global bank to assist in coordinating its response to a cross-border, multi-agency, market conduct investigation.

Ms. Binding brings a high degree of experience in crisis management in relation to corporate investigations. This includes devising communication strategies to mitigate consequent reputational threats and minimise legal exposure, and preparing leak strategies.
