Maëlle Chausse focuses her practice on employment law, privacy and AI.
She advises French companies and international groups on issues arising at all stages of the employment contract, as well as on all labor and data related steps of mergers and acquisitions transactions.
Maëlle also advises companies in various sectors (Life Sciences, Tech, Asset Management, Industry) on their data protection and AI strategies, in accordance with French and European legislation (GDPR, French Data Protection Act, AI Act, etc.).
She leads action plans, crafts incident response plans for data breaches (including cybersecurity), and conducts training sessions.
She has specific expertise in employee data protection (GDPR compliance during internal investigations, DSARs) as well as in health data (development of innovative medical devices, clinical trials, etc.). She has experience in AI projects in regulated environments (predictive medicine, monitoring systems).
She co-authored with Philippe Thomas, Dechert partner, the publication "French Q&As regarding restrictive covenants clauses" published by Thomson Reuters Practical Law.
She contributes to Dechert Cyber Bits, the bi-weekly global publication of the Cyber, Privacy, and AI team.
She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the international community of data protection professionals.
Committed to Dechert's pro bono initiatives, she launched the partnership with the French section of Inspiring Girls and received the Samuel Klein Pro Bono Award in 2023.
She is listed in the Best Lawyers – Ones to Watch ranking in 2025.
