Sharla F. Flohr, Ph.D.

Sharla F. Flohr, Ph.D. is a patent agent in the patent counseling and prosecution practice of Dechert’s intellectual property group. Dr. Flohr has significant experience assisting clients with patent preparation, U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, and due diligence, patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.

Dr. Flohr focuses her practice on the life sciences and biotechnology industries. She has prepared and prosecuted patents on a wide range of subject areas including therapeutic antibodies, cell-based therapies, peptide-based vaccines and therapeutics, cancer immunotherapies, DNA arrays, viral vectors, and gene editing technologies.

Dr. Flohr earned her Ph.D. at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where her doctoral work focused on fetal development of the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis stress response. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health where her research focused on the interaction of corticotropin-releasing hormone and vasopressin receptors.

Prior to joining Dechert, Dr. Flohr worked as a patent agent with an IP boutique law firm and as a patent agent and technical specialist with Human Genome Sciences, Inc.
