Turner J. Smith

Turner Smith is an associate in Dechert’s finance and real estate practice group. He focuses his practice on various matters pertaining to global finance and real estate, including loan origination, repurchase facilities, commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) transactions and asset securitization (ABS). Mr. Smith represents banks, commercial banks, investment banks and non-bank lenders in their role as lenders, issuers, underwriters, mortgage loan sellers and investors.

Prior to joining Dechert, while in law school, Mr. Smith was a summer associate at a boutique New York City law firm that specializes in cannabis law. Mr. Smith also worked at the New York Supreme Court under the Honorable Gerald Lebovits and with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals during the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to law school, Mr. Smith was a corporate paralegal at a large global law firm in New York, specializing in capital markets and structured finance.

Mr. Smith also maintains an active pro bono practice including matters pertaining to veterans’ rights, nonprofit corporate governance, family law and voting rights.
