Gayle Denman advises clients on all aspects of building, licensing, and protecting brands. She has extensive experience in conducting trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement, as well as in drafting and negotiating intellectual property-related agreements. She also frequently advises on the IP aspects of corporate transactions and on varied other IP issues, including in the fields of copyright, trade dress, publicity rights, film clearance, domain names, and advertising and promotional matters. Ms. Denman has particular expertise in guiding clients seeking to protect and expand their brands outside of the U.S., including clients navigating trademark squatting and other complex and sensitive trademark issues in China. Her clients span a wide range of industries, including consumer goods, software, biotech and pharmaceuticals, financial services, education, and philanthropy.
Ms. Denman is co-chair of the International Trademark Association’s Global Bad Faith Registration Task Force and a member of the Association’s Enforcement Committee. She was previously a member of the International Trademark Association’s Trademark Office Practices Committee and Bulletins Committee, and has contributed numerous articles to the Association’s Bulletins publication. Ms. Denman was recently named a 2023 Best Lawyers: One to Watch, as well as a 2023 Rising Star by Managing Intellectual Property. In 2022, she was identified in The Legal 500 for Intellectual Property: Trademarks: Non-contentious. She was also recognized multiple times by Super Lawyers New York as a “Rising Star” in the field of intellectual property.
