Throughout my time at Dechert, I’ve participated in countless training programs and workshops that helped me develop substantive skills in my specific practice area as well as “critical skills” like leadership, communication, client relations and management. Working daily alongside colleagues who are always eager to help me learn – and take the time to explain things – has also helped me to hone these skills.
I’m actively involved in the Global Women’s Initiative (GWI) at the firm, a very active affinity group on both a local and global basis that’s focused on the career progression of women at Dechert. The affinity group is truly multi-layered, covering everything from soft skills training and networking opportunities to influencing gender-related policies and procedures at the firm. What has struck me in my involvement with the GWI is the way in which our committee and its allies continue to thoughtfully keep gender parity on the agenda – not only at Dechert, but also in the community around us.
Dechert has been a great platform as I moved back into the private sector after years at the Department of Justice, giving me the opportunity to work around the world with incredible colleagues on interesting and complicated matters. Just as important to me, the firm is very active in its diversity and inclusion efforts and is committed to a culture that respects and values everyone’s voice, providing actual tools and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Dechert is an incredible firm to be a part of for both my career and my family. Not only have I been supported to operate at a high technical level and be the best version of myself, more importantly my family and personal life are always held in high regard by my colleagues not just by words but through action and respect.
