DOJ Announces the End of Operation Chokepoint

An Assistant Attorney General in a letter to the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee announced that all of its investigations under Operation Chokepoint have been completed and the initiative will not be undertaken again. The actions of the Justice Department and the FDIC under the program had generated significant controversy in regard to whether it had the impact of restricting access of legitimate businesses to the banking system.
