Dechert Partner and Co-Chair of the International Trade Practice, Miriam Gonzalez, speaks to BBC Radio 4 to discuss the impact of proposed U.S. tariffs on steel. Ms. Gonzalez indicated that internal discussions in the U.S. administration could result in a more nuanced position from the President, but the resignation of Gary Cohen negatively impacted the likelihood of a change of direction. Ms. Gonzalez also commented on the impact to the global steel market, particularly the excess supply likely to be redirected from the United States. Ms. Gonzalez regularly advises clients on trade policy, trade agreements, sanctions and embargoes, export controls, antidumping, foreign investment proceedings and EU internal market regulations and infringement proceedings.
