Gayle Denman advises clients on all aspects of building, licensing, and protecting brands. She has extensive experience in conducting trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement, as well as in drafting and negotiating intellectual property-related agreements. She also frequently advises on the IP aspects of corporate transactions and on varied other IP issues, including in the fields of copyright, trade dress, publicity rights, film clearance, and advertising. Ms. Denman has particular expertise in guiding clients in brand expansion outside of the U.S., including advising on trademark squatting and other complex and sensitive trademark issues in China. Her clients span a wide range of industries, including consumer goods, software, biotech and pharmaceuticals, financial services, education, and philanthropy.
Ms. Denman is a member of the International Trademark Association’s Trademark Office Practices Committee and Global Bad Faith Trademark Registration Task Force. She has also contributed numerous articles to the International Trademark Association’s Bulletins publication. Ms. Denman was recently named a 2023 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch. In 2022, she was identified in The Legal 500 for Intellectual Property: Trademarks: Non-contentious. She has also been routinely recognized by Super Lawyers New York as a “Rising Star” in the field of intellectual property.
