Steven Oberlander is a litigator in the Enforcement and Investigations group. He has represented financial services organizations, public and private companies, and individuals in criminal and civil investigations before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and state attorneys general, as well as in internal investigations and efforts to enhance ongoing compliance. He has advised clients facing allegations of fraud, insider trading, accounting irregularities, disclosure-related securities violations, and corruption. He also defends clients in securities litigation and other complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts.
Mr. Oberlander maintains an active pro bono practice with a focus on litigating in federal and state courts to protect the right to vote. He has also represented individuals challenging a county’s cash bail practices and a family seeking asylum and permanent residence status in the United States.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Oberlander was a Dechert Summer Associate and interned with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where he worked on enforcement cases involving securities offenses and health care fraud. He also interned with the Honorable Richard A. Lloret in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Oberlander worked for a government relations firm in Washington, D.C.
