Dechert’s Greater Middle Eastern Alliance brings together colleagues who identify with, are affiliated with, or have an interest in the Greater Middle East region. The group hosts events that celebrate the region’s cultures, traditions and diverse experiences.
Past programs have included an evening of Middle Eastern music featuring French-Tunisian saxophonist and composer Yacine Boulares and violin virtuoso Zafer Tawil, as well as a conversation with Victor Ashkenazi, the first U.S. backgammon grandmaster. Inspired by the conversation, the group also hosts an annual firmwide backgammon competition that brings colleagues together in a friendly and engaging setting while celebrating the game’s strong cultural ties to the region.
