The London Inclusion and Diversity Committee (IDC) focuses on promoting an inclusive culture amongst all employees and seeks to foster a greater understanding of the diverse groups represented in Dechert’s London community. The London IDC supports diversity, inclusion, and equality in the legal profession by supporting diverse members of the London community and collaborates with those who support this mission. The IDC offers resources and a safe space to discuss issues that may be faced by diverse professionals and organizes events aimed at supporting this mission and raising awareness. Previous events have included a photographic exhibition and panel discussion with London-based nonprofit 56 Black Men focused on the stereotypes often faced by black men and a poetry event highlighting the stories behind the Windrush generation.
The IDC also engages with other affinity groups across the firm and works closely with firm management to advance Dechert’s diversity, equity, and inclusion mission.
The group is made up of members of the Dechert London community, including lawyers and business service professionals.
The 56 Black Men project, created by Cephas Williams, is a photo series and visual campaign focused on changing the narrative of black men in the media as an introduction to a wider conversation about our society. As well as bringing the exhibition to our London office, Williams joined panelists for a conversation exploring the stereotypes that impact black men in the professional services industry.
