Trainee Solicitors London and Dublin

Our Outlook

Our recruits in both London and Dublin almost invariably have exceptional academic grades, whether those be A Levels, the Irish Leaving Certificate or another equivalent qualification, alongside undergraduate grades at 2.1 or 1st level.   However, there is much more to being a successful solicitor at Dechert.

Dechert lawyers work as a global team to deliver excellent service and innovative thinking. We understand the importance of a strong and supportive culture. We believe that building community drives our success and creates an environment where people are respected, valued and empowered to do their best. Our people are what sets Dechert apart, and why clients — existing and new — turn to us to advise on their most important matters. We are looking for people who want to make a genuine commitment to our firm, to each other and to our clients. Joining Dechert means becoming part of a global community where we all work together to make a difference.

For individuals in the EEA and residents of California, please see our applicable Recruitment Privacy Notice to learn what information we collect from you during the recruitment process and how we use it.

Diversity and Inclusion

We have a real commitment to diversity, as showcased by our award of The 2019 Commendation for Diversity by LawCareers.Net.  This is due to our recruitment initiatives, which have had a meaningful impact on our trainee solicitor recruitment:

  • We are proud to be an Affiliate Partner of Aspiring Solicitors, with 2019/20 marking our fourth year as sponsor of Aspiring Solicitors’ national Commercial Awareness Competition.  Over 60% of our future trainees are Aspiring Solicitors members
  • We partner with The Law Collective, an initiative for young black lawyers, holding open days for their members
  • Dechert has adopted Rare Recruitment’s Contextual Recruitment System.  The CRS allows Dechert to understand each applicant’s achievements in the context that they have been gained, as it measures academic performance at the applicant’s school or college (if in the UK) as well as social mobility factors.
