Dechert intellectual property partner Nisha Patel Gupta has been honored by Profiles in Leadership Journal as a 2025 “Woman Worth Watching in STEAM”, an award established to recognize women excelling in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
Ms. Gupta is a trial lawyer and litigator specializing in all areas of intellectual property, with a focus on patent, trade secret, and licensing disputes. She has represented technology, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies as both plaintiffs and defendants in federal courts nationwide. Additionally, she has managed post-grant matters involving complex technical patents before the USPTO, including re-examination and Inter Partes review proceedings.
Ms. Gupta has also managed large-scale global litigation while in-house at a large tech company, which allows her to offer a unique business perspective and an understanding of the litigation experience from the client's point of view.
In 2025, The Legal 500 US recognized Ms. Gupta for Intellectual Property: Patents: Litigation, noting she “stands out for her deep tech experience, which spans telecoms, computer architecture, semiconductors and medical devices.” She was also named a 2025 Patent Star by Managing Intellectual Property and Highly Commended as a Rising Star of the Year in Life Sciences Patent Network’s LSPN 2025 Awards.
