Dechert Says 2016 Could Beat Merger Investigations Record

A Dechert LLP study released Thursday revealed that significant merger investigations brought by U.S. antitrust authorities are on pace to challenge the record set in 2015 and also found that the investigations are taking longer than they did in the past.

Dechert’s Antitrust Merger Investigation Timing Tracker found that the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission concluded 14 significant merger investigations in the first half of 2016, one less than the same period in 2015, which saw the highest number of significant investigations in the five years that Dechert has done the study.
