Playing your part - the role of businesses in trade negotiations

March 21, 2018

Dechert Partner and Co-Chair of the International Trade Practice, Miriam Gonzalez, speaks to Lloyds Bank on the role that businesses play in the trade negotiations. Ms. Gonzalez discusses how the trade negotiations are organised in a three tiered pyramid structure. Starting with the technical experts at the bottom and moving up the pyramid to the political masters at the top, with their task being two-fold. Firstly they need to ensure there is good trust and understanding among the different teams. They are also the people who work out any problems that may arise; they are a course of last resort.
