Annabelle Nelsson

Annabelle Nelsson is an experienced litigator who advises financial institutions and corporations on a range of commercial disputes and international arbitrations with a particular focus on civil fraud and the financial services sector. Ms. Nelsson is a Solicitor-Advocate who has extensive experience representing clients in large complex multi-jurisdictional disputes in the High Court and in LCIA and SCC Arbitration proceedings.

Ms. Nelsson was listed as one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases "associates to know" for 2025.

The Legal 500 UK recognised Ms. Nelsson as a "key lawyer" in the Banking Litigation category, describing her as "absolutely first rate – clever, efficient, calm and thorough." (2024)

Ms. Nelsson trained with Dechert and spent four months on secondment at the Royal Courts of Justice. She is also a CEDR qualified mediator.

  • A major bank in its defence of a multi-party billion-dollar fraud dispute in the Commercial Court (listed as one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases in 2020 and 2025). 
  • A large bank in relation to insurance claims arising from the collapse of Greensill Capital.
  • Individuals in a High Court fraud claim relating to the theft of Bitcoin.
  • Shakoor Capital Limited in English High Court proceedings relating to the interpretation of complex finance documents used across the capital markets following its Loan Participation Notes being purportedly bailed-in.
  • Funds managed by Franklin Templeton in successfully challenging the restructuring of the International Bank of Azerbaijan before the English High Court and Court of Appeal.
  • An investment company in relation to its claim for breach of a shareholders’ agreement and its defence to an Unfair Prejudice Petition in the Chancery Division.
  • A Cypriot lender in its High Court claim for specific performance of a €10 million loan agreement.
  • Generali Investments in respect of its claim for breach of contract against Sapinda for over €25 million and the Worldwide Freezing Injunction granted by the Commercial Court.
  • An investment manager in relation to its defence of a High Court claim.
  • Clients in relation to multi-jurisdictional defamation and malicious falsehood claims.

Arbitration 

  • Nine claimants in a large multi-jurisdictional SCC arbitration involving twenty fraud claims and two counterclaims. 
  • Note Trustee and group of noteholders in two linked LCIA claims relating to the enforcement of the terms of US$375 million of Loan Participation Notes issued to finance PrivatBank, a major Ukrainian Bank.
  • A Healthcare M&A strategic and financial consultant in an LCIA arbitration relating to the performance of its contract with a life sciences and analytics company.
  • A BVI company in a LCIA arbitration relating to the breach of a Facility Agreement. 
  • Clients in relation to a partnership dispute between major debt fund partners.
