Antitrust and Product Liability Practices Named as Law360 Practice Groups of the Year

Dechert’s competition/antitrust and product liability practices were selected by Law360 in the 2020 round of its Practice Groups of the Year series, which honors the law firms behind the biggest deals and litigation wins of 2019.

Competition/Antitrust – Over the past year, Dechert’s antitrust group has obtained significant victories for clients across the life sciences, healthcare, chemicals and energy sectors. Dechert lawyers have secured wins in complex clearance mandates, including in the representation of Fresenius in a merger that presented both horizontal and vertical issues. Dechert lawyers also secured dismissal of claims under the Sherman Act for the same client. The firm also successfully represented CVS Health in its merger with Aetna after unprecedented Tunney Act proceedings.

Product Liability – Dechert’s product liability and mass torts practice occupies a central role in the three most high-profile trends in the PLMT space: opioid litigation, environmental toxic torts and claims involving the use of talc products. Over the past year, the firm’s PLMT practice notched up some big victories, securing wins and favorable settlements for clients such as Purdue in a nationwide opioid case and Bayer in mass tort litigation.
