Two Dechert IP Litigators Honored by Managing Intellectual Property

March 27, 2020

Two of Dechert LLP’s intellectual property lawyers have been named “Outstanding IP Litigator” by Managing Intellectual Property at its Americas Awards 2020. This annual event recognizes the leading patent, trademark and copyright firms and attorneys in North and South America.

Martin Black, head of the firm’s intellectual property litigation team, was named winner for Pennsylvania. Black, a nationally recognized trial lawyer and Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, represents pharmaceutical, electronics, and financial services companies in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and software disputes. This is the fifth consecutive year in which Black has taken the title, more than any other lawyer.

The publication also named Princeton-based partner Robert Rhoad as the leading IP litigator in New Jersey. Rhoad represents clients in intellectual property and complex commercial litigation, primarily involving patents and licensing disputes including a wide range of technology areas such as drug delivery systems, pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and computer hardware and software technologies. Rhoad previously won in the state in 2015 and 2019.

Dechert’s global intellectual property practice delivers extensive IP expertise on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, software, technology and privacy issues that arise in the commercial context. The firm has handled matters for major industry players and brands that are household names at a national or international level, including Microsoft, Hitachi, Endo Pharmaceuticals, GlaxoSmithKline, Baxter Healthcare, PepsiCo, Citigroup, Monster.com and others.
