Dechert International Capital Markets Team Honored with Middle East Award

A key Middle East transaction on which Dechert advised – the Republic of Egypt’s US$2 billion triple-tranche bond issuance, which took place in November 2019 – was named “Sovereign Debt Deal of the Year” at GFC Media Group’s Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Middle East Awards 2020.
Dechert’s London-based international capital markets team advised Egypt in connection with bond issuance, which took place under the Republic’s US$30 billion Global Medium Term Note Programme and comprised US$500 million 4.5500% Notes due 2023, US$1 billion 7.0529% Notes due 2032 and US$500 million 8.1500% Notes due 2059. The Dechert team was led by partner Patrick Lyons and associates Jennifer Rees and Amy Rees.
The November 2019 issuance followed Egypt’s €2 billion dual-trance issuance in April 2019 and US$4 billion multi-tranche issuance in February 2019, on which Dechert’s capital markets team also advised.
