Antitrust Thought Leadership Shortlisted for Two Writing Awards
Two articles written by Dechert antitrust lawyers have been shortlisted in the 2023 Antitrust Writing Awards, a joint initiative between Concurrences and The George Washington University Law School. The awards aim to promote scholarship in competition law and contribute to competition advocacy by honoring the year’s best writing on academic and business topics related to antitrust issues.
Dechert has earned nominations for one academic article and one business article. The nominated Dechert articles are:
- “Merger Control Meets FDI: The Multi-Stop Shop Expands” written by Alec Burnside and Adam Kidane and shortlisted in the "Academic Articles: Cross-border Issues" category. The article focuses on the interplay between the EU FDI Regulation and the EU Merger Regulation; and highlights how the lack of substantive and procedural convergence between the two regimes has exacerbated the challenges of managing the growing number of parallel regulatory reviews. Votes for this article can be registered here.
- “Dominance in the Pharmaceutical Sector: An Overview of EU and National Case Law” written by Mélanie Thill-Tayara and Marion Provost and shortlisted in the "Business Articles: Unilateral Conduct" category. The article reviews recent European Commission and national case law regarding dominance and competition in the pharmaceutical sector, providing a view on existing trends. Votes for this article can be registered here.
The Jury, consisting of leading antitrust enforcers, academics and counsel, will select twenty articles to be named as “Jury’s Choice” winners. One article will be chosen for each sub-category within the Academic and Business categories. In addition, for the “Reader’s Choice” winners, the articles with the most votes in the Academic and Business categories, will be announced as the winners.
Voting is open through March 14, 2023. The results will be announced at the Antitrust Writing Awards Ceremony, which will take place on March 28, 2023. For more information, please refer to the Antitrust Writing Awards website.
