Financial Times Again Honors Dechert for Innovation in Asia-Pacific

May 05, 2023

Dechert LLP has once more been recognized for fresh thinking and capacity to bring about change in the Financial Times’ Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards, which assesses firms on innovation in the practice and business of law and on staying ahead of critical trends in the legal profession.

In the FT Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific 2023 report, Dechert was ranked as the 13th most innovative international law firm in Asia. The FT consistently ranks Dechert among the most innovative law firms in the world.

The firm won “Standout” recognition in the “Practice of law - Digital assets” category for advising Hong Kong-based investment manager Fore Elite on the launch of a gamechanging US$100 million cryptocurrency fund. On Fore Elite’s behalf, a Dechert team led by financial services partner Michael Wong secured regulatory approval from Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission to manage a 100% virtual asset fund with a broad investment scope (one of the first in Hong Kong), then advised on the formation and management of the US$100 million Fore Elite Flagship Fund. The team’s achievements were featured in an FT article discussing regulatory challenges towards digital assets.

Dechert was also ranked among the leading international firms in Asia in the FT’s “Law Firm Index,” which assesses firms’ digital maturity, initiatives to improve diversity and inclusion, policies to improve wellbeing, and approach to social responsibility. Notably, Dechert was ranked equal first among international firms for social responsibility.

Law firms and lawyers recognized by the Financial Times were honored in a ceremony held at Singapore’s Fullerton Hotel on May 4.
