Dechert LLP partners Julia Chapman and Jennifer Rees have been recognized by Law360 in its Rising Stars list for 2023. Each year, the publication names those it judges to be the world’s top legal talent under the age of 40.
Julia Chapman, a partner in Dechert’s antitrust/competition practice, has a track record of courtroom success in antitrust litigation and other cutting-edge life sciences matters. She has a reputation for developing creative arguments for early-stage dismissal and uses her antitrust trial experience to drive strategy and factual development from day one of every case. She also counsels clients on antitrust compliance and represents clients in investigations by the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. In July 2022, Ms. Chapman co-led a Dechert antitrust team that secured a landmark pharmaceutical antitrust jury trial defense verdict in the Opana ER Antitrust Litigation class action.
Ms. Chapman is currently recognized as a “Future Leader” by Who’s Who Legal, “Recommended” by Legal 500 USA, and listed in Best Lawyers among the “Ones to Watch” for Antitrust Law. In 2022, she was named among the “Best of the Bar” by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Jennifer Rees, a partner in Dechert’s international capital markets team, has been a chief driver in dozens of significant and innovative transactions in the Middle East, Africa and other emerging markets. She acted on the first corporate bond listed on Kazakhstan’s Astana International Exchange and the first international bond issuances denominated in Georgian Lari and Kazakhstan Tenge. She has also acted as lead partner on a string of ESG-related market “firsts,” including Africa’s first sustainability bond and the first green bond by a transport company in the Caucasus, and has advised on sovereign issuances by Albania, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Sharjah and Tunisia.
Ms. Rees is highlighted as a “next generation partner” by The Legal 500 UK 2023 for both debt capital markets and emerging markets and also recommended for equity capital markets. She is ranked in Chambers UK, 2023 for high-yield products, has been recognized by IFLR1000 for the past four years as a “rising star” for debt and equity capital markets, and was named a “Rising Star” finalist in Legal Week’s British Legal Awards 2022.
