Financial Times Names Dechert Lawyers Among the Most Innovative in Europe

Dechert LLP and its lawyers have once again been honored for creativity and fresh thinking by the Financial Times in its Innovative Lawyers Awards for Europe. The FT’s annual Innovative Lawyers: Europe report, which explores key trends and transformations in the European legal sector, recognizes firms that have made a critical contribution to transforming their clients’ businesses.

The Financial Times consistently ranks Dechert among the most innovative law firms in the world.

This year, Paris-based competition/antitrust partner Mélanie Thill-Tayara, co-leader of Dechert’s global life sciences practice, was named among the FT’s Top 10 Most Innovative Legal Practitioners in Europe. Widely respected as a formidable litigator, Ms. Thill-Tayara has secured several landmark decisions in antitrust cases this year, winning significant rulings in the Paris Court of Appeal in high-stakes cartel and abuse of dominant position litigation. The victories have confirmed Dechert’s position as the premier antitrust firm in France.

Dechert teams were also recognized in two other categories:

STANDOUT - in the “Innovation in Government and Policy” category, for securing landmark international arbitration rulings on behalf of Poland governing intra-EU investment treaty disputes. Paris-based partner Eduardo Silva Romero, co-chair of the firm’s international arbitration practice, led the Dechert team.

COMMENDED - in the “Innovation in Impact and ESG” category, for helping establish the Growth Impact Fund, a £25 million social investment fund designed to level the playing field for social entrepreneurs from underrepresented backgrounds. London-based investment funds partner Thiha Tun and corporate partner Jonathan Angell led a team representing UnLtd on structuring and establishing the first-of-its-kind fund, alongside a pro bono team from Kirkland & Ellis representing Big Issue Invest.

Dechert was also ranked among the leading firms in Europe in the FT’s Law Firm Index, which is assessed on firms’ innovation, digital maturity, policies towards people, pro bono commitment, and approach to ESG.

Lawyers and law firms recognized by the FT were honored in a ceremony held at London’s Natural History Museum on September 21.
