Christina Guerola Sarchio Recognized with NVLSP's 2024 Lawyers Serving Warriors Excellence Award

Christina Guerola Sarchio has been chosen as the recipient of the 2024 Lawyers Serving Warriors (LSW) Excellence Award by the National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP) for her outstanding pro bono service through NVLSP’s Lawyers Serving Warriors® program. Each year, NVLSP recognizes one outstanding individual and firm who share its commitment to America’s veterans.
As a military spouse, veterans’ rights are a cause that is especially important to Ms. Sarchio. For four years, Ms. Sarchio led a team representing Kenneth Springs, Nathaniel Reese and more than 3,300 Navy and Marine Corps veterans in a class action against the Navy for wrongfully denying medical retirements due to an unlawful practice. Through her extensive litigation advocacy, the class recently secured a landmark federal court order requiring the Navy to provide new disability ratings to the entire class. The team that secured the settlement win also included associates Phillip Garber (former U.S. Navy Corpsman) and Christopher J. Merken.
The award will be presented on Thursday, November 21 at NVLSP’s annual benefit reception at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.
NVLSP is a nonprofit organization that has worked since 1981 to ensure that the government delivers to our nation's 22 million veterans and active-duty personnel the benefits to which they are entitled.
