May 17, 2024

Dechert LLP has once more been recognized for fresh thinking and capacity to bring about change in the Financial Times’ Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards, which assesses firms on innovation in the practice and business of law and on staying ahead of critical trends in the legal profession.

In the FT Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific 2024 report, Dechert was ranked among the Top 10 Most Innovative Law Firms in Asia-Pacific. This firmwide recognition is calculated on the strength of firms’ legal innovations, alongside scored assessments of their digital maturity, commitment to pro bono, policies towards people and financial success.

The Financial Times consistently ranks Dechert among the most innovative law firms in the world.

Singapore-based corporate partner Timothy Goh was named among the FT’s Top 10 Most Innovative Legal Practitioners in Asia-Pacific. Mr. Goh, who spearheads Dechert’s ESG and sustainable finance efforts in Asia, has harnessed the full spectrum of sustainable finance instruments to present fresh opportunities and achieve significant results for clients. He has also made an exceptional impact connecting corporates, asset managers, regulators and legal experts to drive the execution of transformative projects aimed at advancing emerging economies and mitigating climate impact.

Dechert teams were also recognized in two other categories:

HIGHLY COMMENDED - in the “Innovation in Unlocking Capital” category, for advising ACEN Renewables, the energy platform of Philippines-headquartered Ayala Corporation, on its role as a cornerstone investor in Monsoon Wind, the first cross-border wind power project in Southeast Asia. A team led by Singapore-based partner Maria Tan Pedersen, alongside David Good and Andrew Singer, advised ACEN on the complex legal and regulatory challenges involved.

HIGHLY COMMENDED - in the “Innovation in Dealmaking” category, for advising private equity firm Capital Square Partners on its novel continuation fund and secondary deal with Basil Technology Partners. A Singapore-based team including Dean Collins, Siew Kam Boon and Thomas Kim advised Capital Square on the groundbreaking deal establishing one of Asia’s largest technology services funds.
