Global Competition Review Names Mélanie Thill-Tayara a ‘Top Woman in Antitrust’

December 06, 2016

Dechert LLP partner Mélanie Thill-Tayara has been selected for the second time as one of the leading women in antitrust by Global Competition Review (GCR). After conducting a global survey of competition-focused private practitioners, economists, enforcers and academics, GCR published its “Women in Antitrust 2016” list. GCR honors Thill-Tayara as one of the 100 most influential women in antitrust private practice “who have been at the forefront of competition law…and made groundbreaking contributions to the ever-changing, increasingly globalised competition landscape.” Thill-Tayara was also honored in 2013 – the last time GCR completed this survey.

"Mélanie is a respected authority on competition law and is both a strong litigator as well as a trusted legal and business advisor on issues critical to global clients. We are pleased to see GCR publicly recognize her for her outstanding practice," said Michael L. Weiner, co-chair of Dechert’s antitrust/competition practice group."

Thill-Tayara, a partner in Dechert’s Paris office, leverages a wealth of experience gathered at the European Commission’s Directorate-General Competition, where she participated in numerous “dawn raid” operations, and from 25 years in private practice. Since joining Dechert in February 2016, she has continued to represent leading companies in significant merger control matters, behavioral investigations, and other proceedings before French and European competition authorities and courts.

In addition to high-stakes representations, she exerts considerable influence as an “Expert” member of Club des Juristes, the premier French legal think-tank. She is also a board member of the Association des Avocats Pratiquant le Droit de la Concurrence, a body for French competition lawyers.

With more than 40 dedicated antitrust/competition lawyers in Brussels, Frankfurt, New York, Paris, Philadelphia and Washington D.C., Dechert’s antitrust/competition practice has the global capability to develop creative solutions to the most difficult antitrust issues in merger clearance, litigation and business planning. The firm is consistently ranked among the leaders in legal directories and was named Antitrust Team of the Year by Chambers USA in 2014.
