Dechert Named Among Law360’s Pro Bono Firms of the Year for 2016

September 09, 2016

For the third straight year, Law360 has recognized Dechert LLP as one of the Pro Bono Firms of the Year. The seventh annual series highlights some of the most impactful work and impressive victories that attorneys at major law firms took on without compensation between May 2015 and May 2016.

“Dechert is committed to providing pro bono legal services to individuals and organizations that otherwise could not afford it,” said Suzanne Turner, Chair of the firm’s global pro bono practice. “We are honored by Law360’s recognition of that commitment.”

Dechert requires all lawyers to perform at least 25 hours of pro bono work per year to ensure universal participation in the firm’s pro bono program. Lawyers handle hundreds of pro bono matters covering issues such as civil rights, international human rights, child advocacy, special education, access to public benefits, asylum, landlord-tenant matters and the representation of numerous nonprofit organizations.

Dechert’s pro bono program has been the recipient of several awards, most recently the firm was named as the “Best international firm for pro bono work” by Euromoney Legal Media Group's Americas Women in Business Law Awards 2016 and recognized as the number one law firm for international pro bono work in 2016 by The American Lawyer. In addition, Dechert is being honored with a Pro Bono Counsel award by the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty on September 22 in Washington, D.C.
