Dechert Antitrust Team Shortlisted for Three Writing Awards
Three articles on competition law written by Dechert LLP lawyers have been shortlisted by specialist antitrust publication Concurrences in its 2017 Antitrust Writing Awards. The awards, set up to promote competition scholarship and advocacy, feature the year’s best writing on academic and business topics related to antitrust issues.
The three shortlisted Dechert articles are:
- “DAMITT Q3 2016 Update: No Let Up in Antitrust Merger Investigation Activity or the Duration of Merger Investigations; Antitrust Merger Litigation Stretching Out,” written by partners Paul T. Denis and Michael L. Weiner, along with associate Rani A. Habash, and shortlisted in the “Best Business Articles: Mergers” category. DAMITT, the Dechert Antitrust Merger Investigation Timing Tracker, is both a proprietary database and a quarterly report providing unique insights to answer critical questions about the timing and trends of U.S. antitrust merger review. - “FTC/DOJ Release Proposed Update to International Enforcement Guidelines: 14 Important Questions,” written by New York antitrust partner Ethan E. Litwin and shortlisted in the “Best Business Articles: Cross-border Issues” category. Litwin’s article addresses frequently asked questions about the issues covered by the Proposed Guidelines to the Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice’s 1995 Antitrust Guidelines for International Enforcement and Cooperation. - “The Antitrust Agenda of a Billionaire Populist President,” written by New York antitrust partner Michael L. Weiner and shortlisted in the “Best Academic Articles: General Antitrust” category as part of the “What is Trump Antitrust?” collection of articles. In his article, Weiner provides insight into the potential antitrust agenda of President-elect Donald J. Trump and suggests that Trump would be well-served to follow former President Theodore Roosevelt’s model of antitrust enforcement. Votes for this article can be registered here.
Potential winners will be chosen from among the shortlisted articles by a committee of academics and industry professionals and by public vote. Finally, a board consisting of highly respected figures in the competition world will select the category winners.
