Dechert Capital Markets Team Recognized at The Oath’s Middle East Legal Awards

December 04, 2017

Dechert LLP’s international capital markets group, led by London-based partner Camille Abousleiman, was honored by The Oath at its Middle East Legal Awards 2017. The contest recognizes law firms, general counsel and in-house teams that have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the legal profession in the region.

The Dechert team placed second in the Banking & Finance Team of the Year category, receiving an “Honorable Mention” for its representation of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the issuance of US$11 billion of bonds in just six months, including the largest Egyptian public bond issuance and the largest bond issuance from the African continent.

A team led by Dubai-based corporate partner Louise Roman was also named a finalist in the Infrastructure & Energy Team of the Year category. The Dechert team advised bank muscat SAOG and J.P. Morgan Securities plc, as joint lead managers, in connection with the issuance by OmGrid Funding Limited of US$500 million 5.196% Notes due 2027 and guaranteed by Oman Electricity Transmission Company S.A.O.C. This novel transaction, the first bond issuance following Oman’s adoption of a new withholding tax law, presented the team with complex structuring issues of first impression.

Winners were announced at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai on November 28.
