Dechert Chair Andrew J. Levander and Partner Martin J. Black Named Among Law360’s MVPs

December 22, 2017

Dechert LLP firm Chair Andrew J. Levander and partner Martin J. Black have been recognized by Law360 as MVPs for 2017 in their respective areas of practice. Levander was listed as a White Collar MVP for the third time in four years and Black was named among the publication's Intellectual Property MVPs.

Levander is a partner in Dechert’s white collar and securities litigation group and represents parties in securities fraud and commercial litigation and criminal and regulatory investigations. His MVP profile by Law360 highlighted his most significant accomplishments of the year, including representing Takata in a criminal settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Fox News in sexual harassment litigation and Robert Diamond, former CEO of Barclays.

Levander said, “It is a pleasure and privilege to work with the Dechert legal teams that helped to make all of these client successes a reality.”

Black, who founded Dechert’s intellectual property group in 2000, represents pharmaceutical, electronics and financial services companies in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and software disputes. His Law360 MVP profile focused on his recent win on behalf of client SCA Hygiene Products, where the U.S. Supreme Court overturned 100 years of precedent, concluding that laches cannot bar the award of legal damages in patent cases.

“I am honored to be recognized and am most proud of the hard work of Dechert’s IP litigation team, which allowed us to achieve this important victory at the Supreme Court,” Black said.
