Dechert International Capital Markets Team Honored with Middle East Award
A key Middle East transaction on which Dechert advised has been named Sub Investment Grade Bond/Sukuk Deal of the Year at GFC Media Group’s Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Middle East Awards 2017, established to celebrate excellence in the Middle Eastern and Islamic capital markets.
Dechert’s international capital markets team, led by partner Camille Abousleiman, advised Barclays, Byblos Bank, J.P. Morgan and Société Générale de Banque au Liban, as bookrunners, on the Lebanese Republic’s issuance of a US$3 billion triple-tranche bond in March 2017. The bond, Lebanon’s largest ever sovereign issuance, consisted of 10-, 15- and 20-year notes, giving it the longest tenure of any Lebanese Republic bond.
Abousleiman’s team has advised on many first-of-their-kind capital market transactions, including the inaugural sovereign debt issuances of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia, among others, and the inaugural corporate debt issuance out of Kuwait. The team helped establish Lebanon’s US$22 billion Global Medium Term Note Program in 1999, which was subsequently expanded to US$28 billion, and has acted on all sovereign bond issuances by the Lebanese Republic since 1995.
