September 01, 2017

Dechert LLP’s London office has been recognized as an “All Star” by Aspiring Solicitors for its efforts in recruiting diverse talent to participate in its trainee solicitor program. Founded by former Dechert trainee solicitor Chris White in 2013, Aspiring Solicitors is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to increasing diversity throughout the legal profession.

“We recruit people that we think have the potential to have long and successful careers with the firm,” said Lara Machnicki, senior manager of Legal Recruitment and Trainee Development. “By creating diverse teams of talented, productive professionals, the firm is able to better serve our clients, employees and communities.”

Dechert recruits up to 10 trainee solicitors each year for participation in a two-year training program. The firm implements a six-seat rotation system, allowing trainee solicitors to experience up to six different practice areas throughout their two-year program.

“We’re proud to partner with Aspiring Solicitors and honored by their recognition of our diversity efforts,” said Satra Sampson-Arokium, director of Dechert’s Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. “We are committed as a global firm to recruiting diverse talent and maintaining an inclusive environment.”

The awards were presented at Aspiring Solicitors’ four-year anniversary ceremony in London.
