Life Sciences Focused Patent Litigator Joins Dechert in New York

Dechert LLP continues to bolster its intellectual property (IP) litigation and life sciences capabilities with the addition of partner Stephen S. Rabinowitz, M.D., Ph.D. in its New York office. His practice will focus on patent litigation with an emphasis on life sciences and pharmaceutical matters. 

Dechert’s prominent IP practice has recently seen the arrivals of partners Noah M. LeibowitzChad E. Davis, Ph.D. and Katherine A. (“Kassie”) Helm, Ph.D. The team represents clients in both defensive and enforcement IP litigation, including assisting companies with protecting, monetizing and extracting value from their IP portfolios and managing strategic worldwide licensing campaigns.

In addition to his legal qualifications, Dr. Rabinowitz completed his medical training at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, going on to perform research at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology and Balliol College, University of Oxford, where he received a D.Phil. in Immunology. Subsequently, he was a pathology resident at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Rabinowitz has significant experience litigating patent cases concerning recombinant DNA technology, nucleic acid amplification, proteins, medical diagnostics, dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals, including Hatch-Waxman actions arising from Abbreviated New Drug Applications with Paragraph IV certifications. He received his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School and his M.B.,Ch.B., with honors, from the University of Cape Town.
