Maria Claudia Procopiak Named Among Latin America’s Rising Legal Stars
Dechert senior associate Maria Claudia Procopiak has been recognized as one of Latin America's Rising Legal Stars by Latinvex, a leading Latin America business publication that highlights 50 rising stars at international law firms doing business in the region. Rising stars were chosen based on their scope of work, prominence and future potential.
Procopiak focuses her practice on international commercial and investment arbitration, particularly on cases involving Latin America. She is part of the Dechert team that acts as co-counsel in representing the Republic of Ecuador in defense of claims brought by Chevron Corporation and Texaco Petroleum Company (TexPet), an extremely high-profile and long-running case arising from Chevron’s and TexPet’s request for relief that would excuse Chevron from paying a US$18 billion judgment. Procopiak is also on the Dechert team that is defending high-profile, long-running claims against Ecuador brought by Burlington Resources and Perenco Ecuador Limited.
