Dechert Chair Andrew J. Levander Named Among Law360’s White Collar MVPs

November 26, 2018

Andrew J. Levander, New York-based partner and chair of Dechert LLP, has been selected as one of Law360’s MVPs of the Year in the White Collar category. It is the sixth time in seven years that Law360 has singled out Mr. Levander for standout performance in the white collar arena.

Over the years, Mr. Levander has guided a large number of leading companies and prominent executives through high-stakes commercial litigation and criminal and regulatory investigations. Significant accomplishments of the past year include successfully bringing an end to various criminal, regulatory and civil litigation matters involving Robert Diamond, former chairman of Barclays plc, and bringing about a favorable end to multiple litigations involving hedge fund manager J. Ezra Merkin and fund sponsor Gabriel Capital Corporation that arose from losses suffered in the Madoff scandal.

He also acted as counsel to the Allure Group, a nursing home operator, in several corruption-related investigations concerning the acquisition and sale of specialty Manhattan nursing home Rivington House, which concluded without charges against his clients. In addition, Mr. Levander convinced the New York Attorney General and New York City’s Department of Health to support the further expansion of Allure’s operations in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan.

Law360 selected just five attorneys from each legal practice area after reviewing more than 1,000 submissions. Those selected as MVPs had achieved the biggest wins or made the most significant contributions to their practice groups in the past year.
