Dechert Shortlisted for Six Firm of the Year Awards in the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific

Leading global law firm Dechert LLP has been shortlisted for six “Law Firm of the Year” awards in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific by Private Debt Investor (PDI) and Private Equity International (PEI), the publications of record for the world’s private debt and private equity markets.

In the PDI Awards 2018, Dechert has been named as a finalist in the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Last year, Dechert won all three regional contests, becoming the first law firm to do so.

This year, in the Americas category, PDI noted Dechert’s assistance in arranging a new omnibus US$3.435 billion senior secured revolving credit facility – one of the largest BDC revolvers to date – for FS/KKR Advisor, LLC, a partnership between FS Investments and KKR Credit, and for obtaining a no-action letter from the SEC for post-risk retention CLO transactions on behalf of externally managed BDCs.

In the European category, the publication pointed out that Dechert advises 41 of the top 50 private debt fundraisers. It also highlighted the firm’s work for Alcentra Limited/Royal Bank of Scotland on the Lawyers on Demand Group financing. In Asia-Pacific, the firm was selected for its work on a number of major mandates in the private debt fund formation and finance landscape.

In the PEI Awards 2018, the firm has been shortlisted for “Law Firm of the Year” in North America in the “Transactions” category and, in Asia-Pacific, in the “Fund Formation” and “Secondaries” categories.

In North America, PEI pointed to Dechert’s work advising GIC on the giant Blackstone-led Thomson Reuters deal, as well as on numerous deals for Court Square, One Equity and Cerberus. In Asia-Pacific, PEI noted that Dechert has advised on 45 private equity fund formations in the past year, including final closes for China Everbright, Openspace Ventures and Dymon Asia, while in the secondaries market, the firm advised Committed Advisors and NewQuest on the Basil Partners deal in India, an Asian bank on a multi-billion portfolio sale, and a sovereign wealth fund on a fund restructuring.
