WASHINGTON, DC – Dechert LLP is pleased to announce that F. Amanda DeBusk and Melissa Duffy have joined the firm as partners in the international trade and government regulation group. Ms. DeBusk will serve as chair of Dechert’s global international trade practice. Both partners join at a time when international trade and sanctions are an increasingly critical component of global business strategy.

Ms. DeBusk is highly regarded as an authority on the enforcement of export controls and trade compliance. She is the former U.S. Commerce Department Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement and represents clients across a broad spectrum of matters relating to civil and criminal enforcement, voluntary disclosures, regulatory compliance, trade remedies and customs. Ms. DeBusk and Ms. Duffy both focus on matters relating to export controls, trade sanctions, and trade remedies for clients in technology, banking, energy, manufacturing, defense, electronics, automotive, telecommunications, aerospace and agriculture.

The partners join an accomplished and highly respected global international trade team at Dechert. The firm advises major companies, governments and financial institutions on the requirements and enforcement of international trade regulations affecting clients’ operations around the world. The team is comprised of experienced lawyers; former national and multinational officials, including regulators, compliance officers and enforcement agents; trade negotiators; and public affairs advisers – a composition that offers clients integrated legal, commercial and politically sensitive counsel and solutions.
