Miriam Gonzalez Named ‘Best in International Trade’ for Second Consecutive Year
Dechert LLP partner Miriam Gonzalez has been named ‘Best in International Trade’ for the second consecutive year at Euromoney’s Europe Women in Business Law Awards 2018. The awards, now in their eighth year, honor outstanding female lawyers and the firms that set the standard for women-friendly work practices.

Gonzalez, who co-chairs Dechert’s International Trade and Government Regulation practice from the firm’s London office, advises international corporate clients on sanctions and embargoes, export controls, customs and other aspects of international trade policy. She leads Dechert’s Brexit team and acts as a lead or senior partner on a number of large investigations and white collar crime matters.
Before moving into private practice, Gonzalez served as the EU’s trade negotiator to the World Trade Organization. She also spent seven years as a senior cabinet member and adviser to the EU’s External Relations Commissioners, where her responsibilities ranged from trade policy, competition and the internal market to external relations.
Today, Gonzalez is also a prominent thought leader who regularly explores gender equality and related issues in the world’s print and broadcast media.
Winners in all categories were honored at a ceremony at London’s Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel on June 14.
