Working Mother Names Dechert a "Best Law Firm for Women"

August 01, 2018

New York – Dechert LLP is among the firms named to the 11th annual “Best Law Firms for Women” list from Working Mother. Working Mother is the most significant authority on the more than 17 million moms across the United States who are devoted to their families and committed to their careers. Each year this list recognizes law firms that utilize best practices in retaining and promoting women lawyers.

Specifically, Working Mother cited two highlights from Dechert this year:

  • New mothers are invited to work with career counselors and executive coaches to support transition before and after welcoming a new child.
  • Fifty percent of newly promoted partners in 2018 were women.

"Dechert has invested significant resources in our firm’s diversity and inclusion practices in recruitment, retention and advancement in an effort to exceed industry best practices around the world. We are honored that our firm’s long-term commitment to retaining and promoting women lawyers is recognized by our inclusion on the 2018 Working Mother Best Law Firms for Women list,” said Satra Sampson-Arokium, Dechert’s director of diversity & inclusion.

This announcement builds on Dechert’s recent announcement about its inclusion on the 2018 Diversity Best Practices Inclusion Index, published by Diversity Best Practices (DBP), a division of Working Mother Media.

The 2018 Working Mother Best Law Firms for Women application included more than 300 questions about attorney representation, schedule flexibility, paid time off and parental leaves, and development and retention of women. Profiles are culled from the applications and reflect 2017 data. The full list is available here
