LONDON – Dechert LLP partner Miriam Gonzalez has been named as one of the HERoes Female Champions of Women in Business 2018, published in partnership with the Financial Times. The accolade celebrates 100 senior female role models who are helping to improve gender diversity in the workplace.

Ms. Gonzalez, co-chair of Dechert’s International Trade and Government Regulation practice and member of the London office Management Committee, has long been a champion of gender equality both in the firm and in society. Within Dechert, she has been instrumental in programs such as the Global Women’s Initiative (GWI), which provides opportunities for advancement and leadership for women within the firm, including offering mentoring, networking and leadership training. Ms. Gonzalez has also been heavily involved in the Sponsorship and Sustained Support (SASS) program, which helps senior female associates navigate the path to partnership.

A prominent thought leader, Ms. Gonzalez regularly explores gender equality and related issues in the world’s print and broadcast media. She challenges the status quo and presses for positive change for women through Inspiring Girls International, a charity she founded that raises the aspirations of young girls by connecting them with female role models.

Ms. Gonzalez advises international corporate clients on sanctions and embargoes, export controls, customs and other aspects of international trade policy. She leads the firm’s Brexit team and also acts as lead or senior partner on a number of large investigations and white-collar matters.
