Dechert Antitrust Team Shortlisted for Three Writing Awards
Three articles written by Dechert antitrust lawyers have been shortlisted in the 2019 Antitrust Writing Awards, a joint initiative between Concurrences Review and the George Washington University Law School. The awards honor the year’s best writing on academic and business topics related to antitrust issues.
The nominated Dechert articles are:
- “Two Sides of the Atlantic on Two-Sided Markets” written by partners Alec Burnside and Michael Weiner, along with associate Adam Kidane, which has been shortlisted in the “Business Articles: Concerted Practices” category. The article discusses the U.S. Supreme Court’s American Express ruling, and how it has diverged from its European counterpart’s 2014 judgment in Cartes Bancaires. - “Dominance in the Pharmaceutical Sector: An Overview of EU and National Case Law” by partner Mélanie Thill-Tayara and associate Marion Provost, shortlisted in the “Business Articles: Unilateral Conduct” category. In this article, Thill-Tayara and Provost discuss the most recent issues in the pharmaceutical sector, focusing on abuse of dominance cases. Votes for this article can be registered here.
- “Interim Measures: An Overview of EU and National Case Law” by partner Alec Burnside and associate Adam Kidane, shortlisted in the “Academic Articles: Procedure” category. Burnside and Kidane address the European Commission’s increasing reluctance to impose interim measures in cases involving potential infringements of Articles 101 and 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. Twenty articles selected by a panel of academics and industry professionals will be named as “Jury’s Choice” winners. In addition, for the “Reader’s Choice” winners, one article will be chosen by popular vote from each of the three key categories, Academic, Business and Soft Law.
