Hector Gonzalez Admitted to American College of Trial Lawyers

Hector Gonzalez, Chair of Dechert’s global litigation practice, has been inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only, and after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy, and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility, and collegiality.

Mr. Gonzalez advises corporations and executives on a wide range of matters, with a focus on complex commercial litigation, criminal and related civil and administrative matters, SEC and CFTC enforcement proceedings and internal, grand jury and state attorneys general investigations. He regularly represents clients in all aspects of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) matters, and also has extensive experience working on matters in Latin America. Mr. Gonzalez has significant trial experience, having tried more than 20 federal and state jury trials and argued more than 30 cases before federal and state appellate courts. Mr. Gonzalez recently served as a Special Master in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in a discrimination case brought by the Department of Justice against the New York City Fire Department.

Mr. Gonzalez previously was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where he served as Chief of the Narcotics Unit. He also served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Appeals Bureau of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. As a Fulbright Fellow, Mr. Gonzalez served as a lecturer of trial advocacy in the post-graduate law degree program at the University of San Carlos in Guatemala City.
