The Legal Intelligencer Names Julia Chapman Among Pennsylvania’s 2019 “Lawyers on the Fast Track”

Dechert LLP associate Julia Chapman has been named among Pennsylvania’s “Lawyers on the Fast Track” in The Legal Intelligencer’s 2019 Professional Excellence Awards. Each year, the Pennsylvania legal community joins forces to celebrate the next generation of great lawyers with The Legal Intelligencer’s Professional Excellence Awards.
Ms. Chapman focuses her practice on antitrust, competition and commercial litigation matters. She represents clients through all phases of complex litigation, from early dispositive motions through trial, and has experience in a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, health care, agriculture, chemicals, retail and publishing.
Notably, in 2018 Ms. Chapman played a key role in the decisive victory for Pennsylvania egg producer R.W. Sauder in a US$1.1 billion antitrust class action jury trial alleging that Sauder was a part of a conspiracy with 12 other egg producers to increase egg prices. During the six-week trial, she examined witnesses and argued evidentiary motions as a critical part of Dechert’s Sauder trial team, helping to win a defense verdict in a rare antitrust class action trial. Ms. Chapman is also involved in representing a generic pharmaceutical manufacturer in In re Generic Pharmaceuticals Pricing Antitrust Litigation currently pending in federal court in Philadelphia.
Ms. Chapman maintains an active pro bono practice, representing incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals in civil rights actions, appeals and resentencing proceedings. She also serves on the board of directors of Pennsylvania’s Court Appointed Special Advocates.
