Dechert Awarded Place in Community Legal Services Hall of Fame

June 05, 2019

Dechert LLP was inducted into the Community Legal Services of Philadelphia (CLS) Hall of Fame at its Breakfast of Champions event on May 29, 2019.

This prestigious award honors Dechert’s commitment to providing exceptional pro bono services to low-income individuals alongside CLS for several decades. Only two other law firms have received this honor since CLS’ inception over 50 years ago.

Dechert was specifically noted for working with CLS to create a firm-based model to provide legal assistance to tenants faced with eviction, ultimately helping to prevent homelessness, and for co-counseling with CLS to increase resources for the Philadelphia County Assistance Office.

Founded in 1966 by the Philadelphia Bar Association, CLS has provided a range of legal services to more than one million low-income Philadelphians. CLS assists clients when they face the threat of losing their homes, incomes, health care, and even their families.

Dechert lawyers handle hundreds of pro bono matters covering a wide range of issues, including civil rights, international human rights, child advocacy, special education, access to public benefits, asylum, landlord-tenant matters, and the representation of numerous nonprofit organizations.
