Gareth Clark Recognized as Rising Star by New York Law Journal
Dechert LLP’s Gareth Clark, a New York-based partner in the firm’s corporate practice, has been named a Rising Star for 2019 by the New York Law Journal. The annual award recognizes the most promising young lawyers in the region.
Mr. Clark has worked on a number of standout cross-border private equity transactions over the past year. Notable deals include his representations of Cerberus Capital Management and its portfolio company, PaxVax, in the sale of PaxVax to Emergent Biosolutions Inc., and of One Equity Partners and its portfolio company, PeroxyChem, in the pending US$625 million sale of PeroxyChem to Germany-headquartered Evonik Industries.
He was also pivotal in guiding NASDAQ-listed Centric Brands Inc (f/k/a Differential Brands Group Inc.) through a US$1.2 billion carve-out acquisition of a significant part of Hong Kong-listed Global Brands Group Holding Ltd, which includes Disney, Star Wars, Calvin Klein and Under Armour.
A prominent champion for diversity at Dechert, Mr. Clark drives initiatives to promote LGBTQ inclusion at the firm and within the wider community. As co-chair of the firm’s LGBTQ Affinity Group and a member of the firm’s associate hiring committee, he has overseen several programs and events geared towards the recruitment, retention and development of LGBTQ and other diverse associates at Dechert, including the launch of a mentor program for LGBTQ students at law schools in the New York region. He also serves as Co-Diversity Liaison Partner for the firm’s corporate and securities department, a role that helps to ensure that diverse attorneys are represented on key deals and in leadership roles.
Mr. Clark and his fellow winners will be honored at the New York Legal Awards on October 23.
