Margaret O’Connor Awarded National Immigrant Justice Center Pro Bono Honor
Dechert LLP associate Margaret O’Connor was named a “Rising Star” by the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) at the organization’s 20th Annual Human Rights Awards 2019. The awards were established to honor human rights champions and celebrate the contributions of business, philanthropic, and community leaders.
Ms. O’Connor, who first joined Dechert as a summer associate in 2016, had previously worked for the NIJC as a litigation project intern. She was named a “Rising Star” in recognition of pro bono services provided to clients on complex immigration cases.
Dechert has a longstanding tradition of providing pro bono legal services to individuals and organizations who cannot otherwise afford legal counsel. Lawyers across all offices and practice groups make a difference by contributing their talents to providing pro bono services. Dechert is committed to spending at least three percent of its total billable time on pro bono work annually.
Along with other NIJC award recipients winners, Ms. O’Connor was honored at a ceremony in Chicago on Tuesday, June 4.
