Dechert Advises Transelec as Part of Investor Consortium in US$1.5 Billion Project Finance Bid
Dechert advised Transelec as part of a consortium of investors awarded a US$1.5 billion project finance bid for the development of a 1,500-kilometer high-voltage direct current transmission line in Chile – currently, the largest project finance transaction in Latin America.
The consortium will have seven years to build the transmission line. Upon completion, it will connect the solar- and wind-energy-producing northern region of Chile with the epicenter of consumption in the country’s center south region.
Transelec is a provider of high voltage systems in Chile, with nearly 10,000 kilometers of 500 kV and 220 kV transmission lines.
The Dechert team that advised Transelec was led by corporate partners Howard Kleinman and Laura Brank.
