Dechert is assisting the Beirut Bar Association and other victims, pro bono, in their filing of a claim in the High Court of England and Wales against English company Savaro Ltd. regarding the 4 August 2020, Beirut port explosion, in which hundreds of tons of ammonium nitrate exploded, killing at least 217 people.

The claim states that Savaro Ltd. imported the ammonium nitrate into Beirut and failed to take any actions to secure or properly dispose of the ammonium nitrate, which exploded and caused death, injury, loss and damage. The claimants hold Savaro Ltd together with other parties liable for the Beirut Port Explosion.

The pro bono Dechert team was led by Camille Abousleiman and Adam Silver and includes Abdul Azeem s/o Abdul Samad, Craig Watson and Fahwad Khan.
