President Trump issued a memorandum on February 3, 2017, that directs the Department of Labor (DOL) to examine the new fiduciary "investment advice" rule under ERISA. If the DOL makes certain determinations, it is to propose rescinding or revising the rule. The DOL then issued a press release stating that it would consider its legal options to delay the rule’s applicability date, which presently is April 10, 2017.
